According to 9News “Businesses and residents residing west of Broadway Street and south of Sumac Avenue will have to secure their trash in bear proof cans starting on Wednesday.” Violators will be fined $250-$1,000. The rules are being enforced for public and bear safety and they are hoping this will lead to less bears being killed in the city of Boulder. It’s not often that one of our local student athletes makes it on a championship team. Former University of Denver student athlete Beau Bennett, now a part of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has now joined the ranks as one of those rare athletes after the Penguins won the Stanley Cup this past week. DU Hockey is proud of their former player and shared shared multiple photos and videos of Bennett with the Stanley Cup on their social platforms. Read more here.

It may be summer but, here in Denver, we are still celebrating our Super Bowl 50 victory! This past week the Denver Broncos Super Bowl Champs finally received their big Super Bowl rings in a private ceremony held at the Mile High Stadium. According to the Denver Post, “Each piece of the Broncos’ championship jewelry includes 194 diamonds for 5.05 carats, plus 18 sapphires, set in a 10-carat, white and yellow gold rings. The top includes the Super Bowl 50 logo, three Lombardi Trophies, the team’s logo (with orange sapphires for the Bronco’s mane) and the words “WORLD CHAMPIONS” engraved on the edges.” Click here to see photos of the Super Bowl 50 ring.

June 15, 2016 marked the 75th anniversary of Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. It’s hard to believe that over 2,500 live shows have taken place over the last 75 years, including performances by the Beatles, the Grateful Dead, U2 and many more. This is a special year for Red Rocks Amphitheater as they celebrate a milestone and earn the designation of a national historical landmark.
